The Indian Premier League is always full of surprises. It is not just a cricket league, but it always brings something new to the world in different roles. That’s what happened on Monday. One of the most followed franchises among the fans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, introduced a totally new concept to the IPL in order to celebrate the contributions of two legends and former players with the team.
As per the latest developments, two veterans, Chris Gayle and AB De Villiers, were inducted into the Hall of Fame for the RCB. The franchise organised a special event on Monday. The whole RCB management and players were present, and both veterans joined everyone through video call to be part of the event.
Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli and RCB Director Mike Hesson started the event with special speeches. Gayle and De Villiers were inducted into the RCB Hall of Fame for their extraordinary careers with the franchise. The franchise gave both legends a gold-plated momento each, with their name and jersey number written on it.
Both legends also shared their feelings. De Villiers thanked Virat, Hesson, Nikhil, and everyone else and got emotional. He also said that he is watching RCB play this season and it has been a special time with the teams over the years. The former South African legend concluded, “The sun has moved on for Chris and I now but we are still very much a family, and we will always be. Thank you very much for the very special touch.”
Chris Gayle also thanked the franchise and everyone for this special gesture. He said that RCB has always been close to his heart and he also wished to be present with the team to give this speech.
